Boric Acid Supositories
Boric acid supositories are a type of topical treatment for bacterial vaginosis (BV). They’re solid, oval-shaped capsules that warm up to body temperature and then become liquid as they’re inserted into the vagina. They contain boric acid, a natural compound with antifungal properties that can help balance the pH levels of the vaginal area and restore healthy bacteria.
Bacterial vaginosis is a common infection that results in white or gray discharge with an unpleasant fishy odor. Antibiotics are typically the first line of treatment for BV, but doctors may recommend that patients add a boric acid suppository to their antibiotic regimen if their BV doesn’t respond to antibiotic treatment.
A 2011 study evaluated 14 studies involving boric acid as a treatment for recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis. They found that the cure rates for yeast infections cured by boric acid varied between 40% and 100%.
The cure rate for non-albicans infections was slightly lower, but it was still quite good. In addition, the recurrence of yeast infections after boric acid treatment was significantly lower than after standard antifungal drugs.
All You Need to Know About Using Boric Acid Suppositories for Vaginal Health
The best time to take boric acid suppositories is at bedtime, but it can also be used before sexual intercourse or whenever the pH in your vagina feels off. Kushae’s suppositories are formulated with medical-grade boric acid from seawater, which is proven to balance your pH and eliminate BV and yeast infections for good!
How to Use a Boric Acid Suppository
The most important thing to remember when using a boric acid suppository is to insert it into the vagina deeply and to keep it in place. Doing so will prevent it from coming loose and exposing your vagina to air. You may feel a burning sensation in your vagina after inserting the capsule, but it is usually mild and should dissipate after a short while.
